Board Member Profile - Dave Yockey

Dave Yockey is serving his fifth term and 19th year on the Board. He was first elected in 2001 and began serving January 1, 2002. His current term ends December 31, 2021. He has served the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) as a trustee and member of the Executive Committee of OSBA. He was selected as a member of the All-Ohio School Board in 2020.

“Milford has always been a great school system because of the dedication and caring of its people,” Mr. Yockey said. 

He began his career in education in 1965 and spent 30 years teaching in Milford. He taught social studies at Milford High School and also served as the Social Studies department chair. He taught American history, government, and world studies. In the 1960s he spent time on Capital Hill in Washington D.C. and gained experience in government and Constitutional law. He retired from teaching in 1993.

He and his wife Pat have lived in Milford for 55 years, and they have three children who graduated from Milford in 1985, 1986, and 1988. 

In retirement Mr. Yockey works as an independent travel consultant with Provident Travel, a job which has taken him to 72 different countries around the world. 

One of his goals while on the Board is to improve facilities for Milford’s students. “We need to find a way to provide the facilities our students desperately need in the form of a new middle school and an auditorium for our student performances,” he said.
