Milford's Special Education program is committed to helping students who require additional support. The district follows the  Evaluation Team Report (ETR) and Individual Education Plan (IEP) process to deliver a quality program that meets the needs of each individual student. All children who are found eligbile for services are offered a free appropriate public education that emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment, and independent living. MEVSD offers a continuum of extensive special education services that comply with all of the state and federal requirements.

Each time a student with a disability is evaluated or the district develops, reviews, or revises the child’s IEP, the district will notify the parent, by letter or electronic means, about both the Autism Scholarship program and the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship (JPS). If you wish to inquire about these programs, visit the link under Parent Resources.

IDEA Funding

Ohio’s Part B Federal Application for Federal Fiscal Year 2021 (FFY21) is available for review through May 18, 2021. All states applying for funds under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are required to make available for public review and comment the application packet for those federal funds. These funds support provision of special education services to children with disabilities who are ages 3 to 21 in Ohio. The Ohio Department of Education’s Office for Exceptional Children has developed a draft application packet for IDEA Part B funds and, by this notice, is making the application available for review and comment. Click here for details. If you have questions or comments please contact Jennie Berkley, Assistant Superintendent of HR & Student Services, by phone: (513) 831-1314 or by email.

Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) of 2004

IDEA, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, is a federally funded program which makes funds available to school districts based upon the number of student with identified disabililities and is reported June 1 of each year.  Funds are used to support the individualized instruction, progamming, and services required by law to students who have qualified for state guidelines.
