In honor of Veterans Day, Milford Schools has recognized more than 450 veterans districtwide. Last night, the Board held a ceremony recognizing veterans, a long-standing tradition at their November meeting.

"I am proud of the number of veterans honored in our schools. Our students understand and recognize the importance of paying tribute to our veterans," shared Milford Superintendent, Nancy House.

Thanks to the MHS ROTC for the presentation of the colors and Thomas Angel for performing Taps. Thanks also to our amazing high school singers: Dylan and Zach VanCamp, for singing the national anthem; and MHS Chamber singers who performed God Bless America.

Board president, Mr. Gary Knepp, recognized Pattison student Nicole Billias for her award-winning artwork from the Remembrance at the Meadows contest. Two Korean War veterans, William Knepp and Louis Lassley, also presented a gift to DECA advisor, Mrs. Terry Rothfuss, and MHS student Lindsey Lawson for their efforts in planning the Remembrance at the Meadows.

The program also included a presentation of certificates to the veterans present and presentation of the troop box donations to Diana Lawrence from Troop Box Ministries. Milford donated more than 375 boxes as well as cash donations that will enable Mrs. Lawrence to mail the boxes to those serving our country. Milford Junior High School builders club members also shared letters from grateful service men and women who received these boxes last year.
