Milford Board of Education Candidates

Posted on: October 21, 2015

There are two spots opening on the Milford Board of Education that will be voted upon by the community on Tuesday, November 3, 2015. Current Board of Education members, Rob Hewlett and George Lucas, are both seeking re-election. Three other candidates are also on the ballot: Jennifer Funk, Don Lykins, and Debbie Marques.

The term of office is four years and begins on the first day of January after the election. A school board sets educational goals and establishes policy for the school system based on state laws and community values. The school board also employs a superintendent and treasurer and holds them accountable for achieving the district's educational goals and managing the day-to-day affairs of the district. Board members also help set district policy; adopt curriculum; serve as fiscal stewards; and act in the best interest of the school district and within the scope of their legal authority.
