Milford Teacher Wins Favorite Teacher Contest

At Boyd E. Smith on Tuesday, April 14, Mr. Pete Parnin was recognized during a special 4th grade assembly as a local winner of the Barnes & Noble "My Favorite Teacher" contest. Haley Rodeffer, a former BES student and now MJHS 8th grader, wrote and submitted the winning entry. Mr. Parnin taught Haley in both fourth grade and then again in sixth grade. Haley was inspired to write about Mr. Parnin because he encouraged her to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. She continues to visit Mr. Parnin on Fridays after school.

The Barnes and Noble contest is open to middle and high school students who can submit an essay, poem, or thank-you letter sharing how a teacher has influenced their life and why they appreciate and admire them.
