Budding News...

Mrs. Breuer's 5th grade science classes at Pattison Elementary created a video for the Scotties "Why Trees Rock!" video contest. We are excited to share that our video was selected as one of the nation's top ten finalists.

Missy Breuer, a math and science teacher at Pattison, involved 60 students who participated in creating a list of their top reasons why trees are important. They jumped in leaves, they read books in the shade, and sang a tree rap song.
The winning video will be decided by the results of a national online voting period which begins this coming Monday, January 11. If you are willing to go out on a limb, here are three things that you can do to help us win $10,000 for outdoor education at out school:

1. Register online at

2. Vote and keep voting once each day for Pattison Elementary School, Milford, Ohio from Monday, January 11 through February 7.

3. Promote our video by sharing online and spreading the word with family, neighbors, family, and coworkers. Take your iPad or smart phone to sporting events and gatherings to help us get the word out!

"In my science classes I stress the importance of being good stewards of our earth and its resources. We have a school wide recycling program; walking field trips to the nature preserve behind our school; visits to the Cincinnati Nature Center; and have begun work on adding native plants on the school grounds to help Monarch butterflies with the habitat they need as part of their life cycle," said Breuer.

Thank you for taking time for trees and education!
